Daily/Weekly checks?
ATTN DAILY DRIVEN TURBS!
What checks do you guys make each day or week? Obviously oil and coolant but what other small things to you visually inspect to keep tabs on your motor?
TIA!
Rick

Re: Daily/Weekly checks? (Bartman201)
usually make sure my wheels are still on, the i proceed to check and make sure the turbo/motor is still there.
But seriously if you drive normal and you did everything right the first time you shouldn't have to do daily motor check-ups. i used to just check to make sure oil pressure was still good and i didn't have any oil/coolant leaks or mixtures.

check the oil return line for leaks.
check level of coolant in overflow.
check injectors and injector seals for signs of leaking.
you probably don't need to check all this but i'm paranoid about leaks especially oil and fuel.

When I first put my turbo on, I would usually check the oil and coolant level before driving. After driving, I'd pop the hood to make sure nothing was leaking, smoking, etc... Once I knew everything was working OK (after a month or so), I started checking things about once a week.
It's been about 7 months since I put my turbo on, and now I just listen and smell for things out of the norm. and check the oil ~once a week.

Re: (wade)
I used to do comp. checks weekly but found it isnt nessary unless something obvious is wrong, then check. If you notice your motor is drawing lower than normal vac. then check for vac. leaks and do a compression test.
Check oil every time i get gas
Check coolant weekly, sometimes 2 times a week or so.
Check for any oil leaks
monthly check to make sure you compressor isnt getting dirty and yoru filter is still in ok condition
when i change my oil I check
my axles,
leaks from the tranny if any ,
leaks from the motor,
condition of the old oil,
check condition of hoses and make sure they arnt swollen or leaking.
check timing belt condition & tightness
check alt. belt condition & tightness
Replace my plugs w/ a new set
check vacuume lines to make sure none are worn and about to cause a vac. leak.
I check my tires randomly threw the month and make sure lugs are still there and/or tight. Revery 2 months I rotate my tires. (trust me.. it works. My last set of tires still looked brand new after a year and a half of boost)
Then i'll do the random check around me to make sure no one is looking... then check my nose for anything jk

Check oil and coolant daily.
Check Injectors, head, tranny, and pan for leaks daily.
Put a wrench on all turbo/manifold/dp bolts once a week and make sure they are snug.
Every night I pull the car in the garage I pop the hood so I know to check before I start the car in the morning.

Dudes are paranoid I check the oil now and again I change it regularly. If I spot oil on the driveway then I panic.... I look around the turbo for any obvious leaks perhaps every couple of weeks.
Check boost often to see its not creeping thats the biggest issue I have had.

Re: (LoSt is BlaCk)
I check the oil...once I start seeing the oil light come on after a hard corner j/k
I actually had a girl admit to being 9k over her oil change, and another that destroyed her motor with 18k w/o oil added/changed.
