d15b turbo question, what all is envolved?
im thinknig about rigging up a homemade turbo kit for my stock usdm d15b7 . . . i estimate that for the kit, turbo, intercooler, bov, piping, wastegate and blah balh will cost around 400 - 500 bux, but after i get all thius what kind of tuning and such has to be done. if i went uberdata, will i need to dynotune the car? i only want to run around 5-7 psi . . . any help would be great, a guide to turboing a d15b7 would be flat out sexual. thanks in advance

$400 is pushing it. Depends how long you want to wait and what condition stuff is in and really how bad the seller wants to get rid of it.
I once got a T3 off ebay for 67 shipped and it was immaculate. I just recently got a TE04H off ebay for like 70 shipped. Here is what I have into my kit thus far
T3 with oil lines -$275 shipped (came with a slim fan too)
P28 chipped for uberdata with a basemap - $120 shipped
JRC intercooler. Kinda beat up but supposedly holds pressure - $60 shipped
HF manifold - $40 shipped
conversion harness - I think I paid $70. Trading it for a H adapter plate and O2 sensor
boost gauge -$35 shipped
BOV - $65 shipped
Still need charge pipes, downpipe and exhaust, welding fees, tuning fees. Some other misc gauges and fluids. Not to mention a clutch down the road.
I am sure you can put together some **** for $4-500 but it wont be pretty. I guess if it works, go for it but I wouldnt want radiator hose for charge pipes.
So far I am in 665 and I estimate the other stuff above to go around 500 or so...so around 1200 and I think that is pretty good. Some guy on homemadeturbo made a kit with a wideband for under $1000

not to mention you want to run uberdata. You have to figur ein the ocst to chip (and rechip your ECU) and a dynotune or access to a wideband would be key. You cant just bolt all that **** on and drive...well I guess you CAN but I wouldnt. I also bought some 450cc injectors for 50 so that brings me to $715 so far

Re: (Dual_Phart_cans)
i turbo'd by d15b8 with dx head swap. i think you should use a t-25 awesome boost response and should start boosting big at a little over 2500rpm try not to go over 12 lbs. blow head gasket. good luck d15 rocks

No for uberdata you need to tune the settings on a computer, rechip the ECU and see how it runs on a dyno or at least street tune with a wideband.

Re: (BauleyCivic)
I thinkthat is a good first recommendation but themoney factor should be considered. I did the AFC Hack and I will actually come out better tune wise and only spend a tad bit mroe money...and actually the money spent would be about the same if you get somethign to alter the timing with boost

Yeah I was able to do mine from the dizzy. I guess after doing some thinking I htought uberdata would be better in the end and I wish I had went that route originally. The Hack is a good alternative

Re: (Dual_Phart_cans)
normally you cant run any boost on a Honda without a Missing link/check valves, etc
if you get the AFC and some DSM 450, you can run up to 10lbs or so without a missin glink. I dont remmeber how or why since I ran that about a year ago and have since forgotten the details but it is out there
edit
searched <archived afc hack> and got this.....this thread is HUGE and is a good read if you want to run it. I know turbod16.com has a AFC Hack sticky in their forum

I went slower in the quarter with an EX tranny. The one I have has horrible grinds, so I think that might have something to do with it. I bought a B7 tranny that shifts good and will be installing that soon. IMHO, a B7 and a EX/Si Z6 feel the same. I'd say you'd gain 2 tenths max with an EX trans.

Re: (BauleyCivic)
cool, thanks man yeah i got my b7 on the other day it grinds in third sometimes but oh well it works my last one it was popping outta gears. but yeah with my old tranny 6 days after i put the kit on with my stock clutch slippin a lil i ran a 14.5@96mph on 5.5 psi with the greddy non-intercooler kit with 2.5in. cat back gutted cat, and it ran a 15.9 before that all stock so i figured the b7 tranny works pretty good and it seems to me that the non-vtec responds good to boost some ppl are saying i should get a vtec head but i don't see why to

Re: (Dual_Phart_cans)
afc hack is a piggyback
chipped ecu would be "standalone" for lack of a better term to describe it
The AFC hack could be plug and play if you buy a conversion hanress with the AFC harness spliced in....if not, you would need to splice solder/tape like 6 wires..pretty easy to do.
