Cylinder 3, Need some help
i took my intake manifold off yesterday to take the head to the machine shop, and i came to find this.
Cylinder 3 is perfectly clean in my intake manifold, and in the intake port in my head. pulled a spark plug to find that it was a lot cleaner than 1,2, and 4.
what is causing this? car is not breaking up/detonating. It is running perfectly fine.
here is a pic for reference:

something similar happened to a friend of mine....turns out that cylinder leaned way out and he blew that piston. Once taking everything apart that port was way clean and the injector had pieces of oring stuffed in it.

but like i said, the motor isnt running lean, its running more on the rich side.. 11.7ish on the WB in full boost.

Hell yea, I had one of those precision injectors fail on me after my dyno session when we were street tuning my car. Took out #2 cylinder completely. I had the injector tested and it flowed 13% less than the rest.
I would have all of your injectors flow tested to ensure their good. Many places like http://www.whichhunter.com can return them cleaned in 48hrs.

Bad idea...don't do that, because if there is A problem which there obviously is I wouldn't run it like that.

It's a fantastic idea, because according to the original poster, the car runs perfectly fine the way it is right now...so there isn't an 'obvious' problem.
Simple easy way to troubleshoot before any money is spent.

So I quess were looking at different pics then, because there is A problem visible that is why he is asking...of course if you switch it to another cyl. it will follow it is not going to fix it self, that is if there isn't other problems wiring related which could be easily checked out the right way with A multi meter or noid light.

Nobody said for him to swap the injectors and then go hit full boost. Simply driving around normal should work fine.

Look I'm not here to argue, but if the problem is that it is sticking open and you can see there is A problem so why take the chance that it might totally take A **** and stay open and wash the rings or hydro lock that cyl. and your not going to clean the intake runners and put it back together with that inj. in another cyl. and take it for A quick spin around the block and see any carbon build up when you take it back apart. I'm just stating that there is A right way to do things and if you checked the wiring and found no problem there then the injector is not going to fix itself.
Hey Jeff,
If you still got the spark plugs throw some pics up so we can take a look at them. Also maybe some pics of the cylinder head. If your keeping the same motor I would maybe do compression/leakdown tests.

Seems like my hunch could be the culprit...someone else suggested checking the wiring first which sounds like an even better idea.

dont you think if it was sticking open to the point of washing the cylinders that it would have a dead miss on that one cylinder?
