cutouts
This heavy-duty butterfly valve...where do they sell it? Especially one rated for >500F and under $100?? 
TB's work fine, as long as they're not 5" from the turbo. They are intended to take 250F temps in the engine bay, to give you an idea. The only part that might melt is the sealed bearing's seals, but even then they use high-quality rubber that can take near 300F. Then for $10 you could get a teflon-sealed bearing that can take more heat.
I have much less than $150 into my cutout, 2.55" ford throttle body is still fine after 10k miles, and opens in 1/3 a second via my ecu GPO (gen purpose output) at 60% throttle. It also takes up half the space below the car, and the motor is inside the car immune to speed bumps/debris. I wouldn't take a name-brand cutout if you gave one to me.
