Custom made intercoolers
I lost my job yesterday, and i need to find another way to make money while going to school. My dad owns a truck dealership (freightliner) and they do LOTS of aluminum work, he said that i can use his shop after hours to fabricate custom intercoolers, i was wondering what you use to construct them and what sizes you guys would want, i would also be able to construct turbo manifolds. The craftsmanship would be perfect... the mechanics that would help me are some of the best welders i have ever seen. thanks

thanks, but i need to know what to make the intercoolers out of...
i talked to some of the best fabricators in my dads shop and showed them many examples of turbo manifolds (SS equal length) and they said that they could do them very well. they are amazing with aluminum too, so the intercoolers should be a piece of cake

i actually thing the large water heater material is what they use as the core..then the just cut it and add the ends on them....but this is just my 2 cents on it, i'm not for certain.
i couldnt find anything, i need help soon, i need to make my next car payment by the 15th of next month... so i need to get started... thanks for your help

are you talking about completely custom, built from scratch? I'd be easier just to get semi intercoolers and cut 'em up and add endtanks. You could get plenty of business if you were flexable about size and endtank specifications.
Dmoto, try this site...maybe you can email them to ask what they use for the intercooler core. Here are other sites too and good reading materials

ok, im gonna for sure start building the intercoolers within a few days, what sizes do you guys need/want? i am thinking about doing a d-series manifold because there seems to be a lot of people wanting them and nobody making them... but i would need a donor car (locally
)
)
it will probably depend on how long it takes me to find a donor car, but i could probably have a manifold done in 3 months.. dont know about price, intercoolers i could have in two weeks or less
i'll see what i can do, i might be able to use my friends car if he will let me, but i dont know, because its a stock d-series. would you guys want to keep air conditioning if possible?

hehhe, i know, he's probably done modding his car after tinting the windows and putting a sub in the trunk... but thats cool i guess
i'll use my car when i get it
wont be long
i just lost my liscence again so i will have tons of time to finish my car and sell it, then get a civic.
