Default Crower Turbo Cams destroyed!

On the Dyno today destroyed both Crower Turbo Cams at about 8000rpm. Has anyone had issues with crower cams. I mean they broke like tooth picks. Intake cam on cylinder 4 and on the exhaust on cylinder 1. These cams lasted about 1000 miles. I heard crower cams were decent, but I guess that isn't the truth. I will call crower tomorrow. If you have crower cams, be cautious. These cams have no wear on the lobes, or any unusual wear. Time to return to OEM.

Driving the car for 1000 miles is break in enough. I would think. The cams look like they were brittle and just broke.

Hell yeah, but I will have it back together soon. Sad to loose a ported Justice Racing head. Brian will be meeting tomorrow with a GSR head. Just have to keep it moving. The power was good though for the first time tuning. It will make 650.

I'd skip out on crower turbo cams for starters, they seem to kill top end quite a bit.

Two, were the cams from an old-old batch or were they new from crower?

New Crowers. They were supposed to be stronger. SIKE! I'm like, **** happens, but I think I will contact them to see if they could work something out about the cams.

Where they installed properly.. I know installing a cam is easy ****, but was the timing belt too tight, did you torque down the caps properly, did you have the proper rocker clearance. Just food for thought. I actually watched one of there cams crack before in a DSM.

Crower has a habit of making an awesome 3, 4 or 5 piece cam.

Junk ****, I would rather keep OEM cams in my motor anyday.

I had a buddy broke the intake cam at the track. He called crower up and they replaced the cams. The only problem though is I think it bent some valves as well and I don't think crower took care of that

A good friend of mine had a set of Crower Turbo cams, the exhaust cam snapped in half while he was at the track, doing a burn out . The cam snapped in 4 pieces and metal went through the turbo messinbg up a brand new PT61. Crower told him they would charge him something like $350 for a new set and "Sorry for your luck".

You do know that Brian no longer works for Crower cams? He left and started his own business. Good luck in finding anyone who cares at Crower.
I would have hoped that Crower had fixed their cam core issue by now. If these were recently purchased cams, then it appears not.
Every used motor that comes in with Crower rods, has issues with the small end bushings. They have had that same problem for many years also and have chose to ignore the problem.

everything was torque perfectly and also valve clearance were also set to spec. Timing belt was given good tension nothing drastic. I've been putting together motors for 5 years. Never had a problem with cams. Where the cam sits in the journal are perfect. Just where the cams are the weakest is where they broke. In between lobes.

I think you meant Crower rods, right? I remember you posting before about the pin bushings wearing out and needing to be rebushed

My Crower turbo cams are fine so far, work great, many thousands of miles, track days, etc, no problems.
