Default crazy torque!

My setup has changed since (more boost) but I never posted my results.

This is a stock b18c1 with a SC61 (6.8psi) and a Precision AS1025 FMIC.

Blue is torque, Red is HP. Sorry for the crappy digital cam scan.

It IS possible to have matching TQ and HP on a honda motor! (236wtq, 240whp)

people usually want torque the flatest possible, that way its consistant throught the powerband. but not bad numbers.

Thats a wierd looking graph you got there, HP never dropped off at all. Torque was all over the place, must feel nice driving that car around

max rpm was only 7700. i always bounce off my rev limiter because i need a nice valvetrain to reach peak HP.

its in a crx too, with lensos... so hell yes its a blast to drive!

Thats what i hope to get when i finish tuning for 10psi. might need some valve springs to rev up to peak hp though.

Stock GSRs can rev to at least 8200-8300 safely, torque shouldn't be as high as hp on a honda...

And the torque and the HP curve should cross at 5252!!!!

I was thinking that, that graph looks like the motor was all over the place or the thing was possessed by something.

this isnt always the case...its a feature on the dyno software called forced scaling...

this graph looks like mad boost creep doesnt it???

this isnt the final graph, so it does kinda go all over the place. you can see the A/F (black line) is all over the place (and below 11:1). The final was more smooth.

Similar hp and torque figures indicate quite of a bit of exhaust restriction up top, known as reversion.

Given the formula HP=torqueXRPM/5252. I calculate you should have ~368whp with that kind of torque at 8200rpm.

I only revved up to 7700 on the dyno, so I have more power waiting there. I thought you were supposed to use max tq rpm for the calculation... ?

HP=236X(5660)/5252 = 254.3

where would my restriction be? I got a 3" downpipe and exhaust.

The only thing I can think of is the .48 turbine of my turbo, it may choke a bit up top but ITS A BLAST TO DRIVE DAILY!!! I used to have a .63 and I swapped it for more torqe and faster spool.

Here's the way I look at it...you made what, 254whp@7900?

Since its a formula we can reverse engineer it.

Torque=HP*5252/rpm
Torque=254*5252/7900
Torque=168wtrq

168wtrq@7900rpm, that means you came down ~68wtrq in ~2200rpms (from 5660) and since hp is all about carrying torque into the higher rpms, and your torque is falling off so bad, your gonna see similar hp and torque #'s the higher you rev it.

I would say the .48a/r is part of it, perhaps its your cams though. Thats probably what I would point my finger at right now on this guy's setup considering its a stock b18c1, also if he had revved it out he would've seen ~255whp.

Maybe someone a little bit more in the know will pipe in though.

ill post the final graph for 10psi (ill actually scan it) and we will see whats going on. Ill make sure we rev up to max rpm too.

Thanks for the info
