crankcase ventilation question (black box)
What would be the harm in just putting a couple breather filters in the 2 open holes on the black box to vent the crankcase? The box already has baffling inside it, so I don't think it will blow oil out of it. Maybe I'm wrong? Would this be enought venting for a turbo LS with a goal of less then 350whp?
just get rid of it and put in a catch can system from somewhere. like Locash racing. or a cheap one off ebay and some oil drain fittings from acura for the gsr engine. or just put filters on it and see what happens
The only reason I want to do this is because my engine bay is fully tucked. Wire tuck, brake line tuck, fuse box and battery relocation. I just want to keep the bay as clean and clutter free as possible. I know a real catch can setup is ideal, but with my low HP goal I'm wondering if I can get away with it setup like this.
The better the crank case ventilation the better your engine will preform. Just saying, plus bad *** catch can systems can look pretty sweet in that tucked bay of yours.
I installed two ports on top of the black box to a catch can, but ended up plugging the pcv hole and welded fittings onto the valve cover and ran braided line. Weld the fittings on the intake side to hide them a bit, but I think they're sexy.

There's no way to hide a catch can. I have a shaved and tucked bay, no master cylinders or anything and I'm not trying to hide my catch can, oil tank, and oil tank breather but that's really only because I'm building a race car and don't need any of the OEM ****.
I have a shaved and tucked s13 as well, again no place to hide anything.
just deal with it.
