Default Crack in compressor housing...

I got my turbo today and i noticed a crack on the compressor housing where someone has horsed the bolt in too hard, or maybe it's a casting defect. Anyway i was wondering if this crack would affect operation in any way and if it would get bigger? basically, is it a problem?...

It looks like the whole foundation around that bolt is messed up. I really don't think that is going to hold up much longer.

Looks like the compressor housing is kinda built thicker in that area, it probly wont effect any of the air flow unless there is a hole in the housing itself that acutally may leak air.

cheers. Well i've emailed the company i got it from to see what they think, if they could replace it, or if they think it's ok and it does crack or leak air i could get it replaced. So hopefully i'll get it replaced, or just run it and get a better housing at a later date

I would guess that it is a defect. You should be able to strip the threads out before the casting cracks, not that you want to put more than a couple ft/lbs on that bolt.
