Default couple ?'s bout going FI

im looking to buy a greddy kit. and (i know its not the best but its something to start with) is it necessary to get a turbo timer and boost controller? and when drilling into the IM for vacuum how do you keep the metal shavings out of the IM? and what gauges would i need to keep track of everything so i know the car is running ok and what not??

t.timer-nice to have.
for this kit as being "something to start with" no boost controller right away.
DONT DRILL YOUR MANIFOLD!
you can find vac. from other places...like brake booster.

good guages might include boost, a/f, oil press/and temp.

No need to drill the mani. Get a vacuum block. Check out this link, and scroll down: http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html

A/F gauge is a waste of money UNLESS its a wideband o2 sensor/gague combo. And those are expensive. Don't worry about it unless you plan to do your tuning yourself on the street.

Good gauges to have are boost, and oil pressure. If you are taking your car to the track get water temp and oil temp as well.

Turbo timers are unnecessary. Nice, but all you have to do is drive chill for a min before you park the car, then let the car idle for a few seconds and everything should be fine. Because you are using high quality oil right?

Scroll down to the VACUUM BLOCK is all I was trying to show you. Easier than drilling the manifold.

I don't understand your question. Better vacuum block?

There will be enough vacuum to run what ever you want off that block.
