Default correct way to install catch can and pcv crap??

i have a turbo d16z6 and currently have my catch can inline with the hose that goes from the pcv valve to the intake manifold. is this correct or should i get rid of the pcv valve completely on a boosted z6?

As to Dashers thread, never run a catchcan inline from the pcv valve to the intake mani. On my Z6 I went with a vented catchcan with one line going from the valvecover to the can. Then I disconected and plugged the vac source on the intake mani, holowed out the pcv itself, and ran a line from it to the can. This seems to work for me.

isnt the box on the back of the block a stock catch can anyways...

catch cans are ******* useless

so instead of running it to the intake manifold i run it to the valve cover? that doesnt make sense.. should i keep the pcv valve or chuck it??

once again i have my catch can inline from the hose that goes from the pcv valve to the intake manifold and then i have the hose going from the valve cover to the preturbo intake pipe..

That's what Im talking about! An empty soda bottle is way too much of a hassle, to waste on something as stupid as the environment!

I felt evil enough as-is in running an open breather setup. There should be no excuses to not use a catchcan when one can be made for free and causes no performance disadvantages.

Not to mention the importance of inspecting the blow-by residuals and how long it takes to fill a catchcan in diagnosing engine problems.

where do you put the steel wool? the can did not come with anything inside and i checked it yesterday after haveing it running for about 3 weeks and the can is totally clean. I took the intake tube off the compressor housing and that was clean as well. Is my engine just running really clean or is it just not catching anything because of the lack of wool?

What do you mean by "chuch the pvc?" Do you mean throw one of those little fliters on it? And do you mean run the catch can from the intake manifold somewhere to the intake piping for the turbo? If so where should i connect if on the intake?

I'm so lost, couldn't you just pop a breather in place of the pcv and plug the intake mani port?

the pcv valve and all this breathing crap isnt just there for emissions... ive already read every thread on here. i have a z6 not a b series so i dont have freeze plugs in the back of the block.

Read again ... all the info is there in the first post specifically talking about d series engines......

I mean get rid of the pcv valve. Find a fitting that fits where it used to be. Where it connected to the intake manifold...disconect the line and put a plug on it. Now if your gonna run a vented catchcan, run a line from where the pcv used to be, to the can. Then run another line from the valvecover to the can. Thats it.

The PCV takes air/by-pass-stuff from the valve cover to the intake manifold. So if there is pressure instead of vacuum, in the manifold, then you get pressure in the valve cover. So route the pcv to BEFORE the turbo. The problem with pressure in the entire engine is creating oil leaks. Or route the pcv as a breather.
I run 22 lbs of boost with a 1/8" line with a check valve to the manifold from the valve cover, the pcv line goes to before the turbo. Got to lube those valve guides.

right now there is a hose that goes form the valve cover to the intake pipe before the turbo. and a hose from the pcv valve to the intake manifold with a catch can in between.

is this okay or shouild i change something?

The pcv is a reverse check valve, from a turbo pov. It opens at low intake vacuum (ie. pressure). You want a pcv that closes at intake pressure (ie. low vacuum). Reverse the pcv valve, partially block the line to the intake down to 1/8". or Buy a check valve, and 1/8" line and replace the pcv with it.

turn the pcv valve upside down? you sure? and then plug a 1/8" hose onto the 3/8" pcv valve hose?

Seen them on vacuum lines on chevy's, saabs, buicks, volvos. They keep vacuum in a tank when the manifold pressure increases. I got mine from a jy.
