Consequences of using 87 octane in a turboed engine?
Out of curiousity, not that it's happened to me (not turboed yet), but what would happen if for some reason 87 octane gas was put in ur turbo engine instead of 93 (or 91-92 in some states)...would iminent detonation result? or do u have to get the car towed and drained? and has this ever happened to anybody?

you will not necessarily knock, but it is a possibility
you dont have to tow the car or drain the tank - it is perfectly possibly to drive around without boosting and have no problems

You would just have to be easy on the throttle, stay out of boost, you'd be fine. But you would want to use the WHOLE tank of gas before you put in the supreme unleaded or else you would have no idea what you were using...
instead of having to suffer for a week or two with no boost, I'd just get some high grade octane booster or a little bit of 100 octane to mix in.
edit: oops nevermind, I just realized you said this hasnt happened to you yet. but that's what i'd do if it ever does..
