Default Compressor Map help...

I am about to buy a GT32E turbo, for my b16a3, its stock now, i'm only going to run 6-8 lbs until the motor dies (158k) and then rebuild it for 12-15+. This map tells me what i need to know, i just don't know how to read it, ive been looking for tutorials, but the one on turbocalculator doesn't tell you HOW to read it, thats what the dang jim calc. is for. So if anybody could please let me know what the best specs would be for this turbo are so i know its the right size an all, etc etc. thanks.

Based on my calculations at 10psi (1.68 pressure ratio) w/ an 8000rpm redline, you're at 341 cfm of flow or 24lbs/min. on the map you want to look to the right of the first line furthest to the left. Find 1.68 and match it with the 24lbs/min mark.

You're at the 78% range, a little to the right, but still in the sweet spot. But remember, this is flow in the high rpm range, so it's o.k., but won't do the most good.

At 3500rpms based again on being a 1.6 litre, you're at 149CFM of flow, or 10.5lbs/min at 10 psi (1.68 pressure ratio) Looks here as though you're at the surge line on the left which means that you have very little efficiency in which to spool. You'll get some serious lag on this..

If this is the true ball-bearing turbo then you could make up a little of it if the A/R was right, a bit faster spool, and can see the turbine maps for efficiency, otherwise This might be a bit laggy on a b16, but not a B18C...

Try something a little smaller, like an SC34 w/ a .63ar and a slightly smaller trim setup, like 57...

I can give you a hand if you'd like and even put one together for you...

Actually let me correct myself, that map was based on a .73 A/R turbine, a full garrett gt32, i am going to buy a precision gt32e, which i am told is basically an SC34 with GT technology, correct?

It's similar but the GT technology changes the Crankhp amount a bit. PM me or e-mail me, and we can go over it. I've just designed about 3 recently for 2 GSRs and a B16, so I can give you hand in picking the right one.. I'm an Authorized Precision Dealer, so no worries.

Well, i went ahead and bought the gt32e, theres no way anybody could match the price i paid for it, and he said he's put 3 on 2 gs-r's and one on a b16 with hondata and 780cc injectors, and it put down 328whp on pump fuel @ 14 psi, that is my goal hp, right around there. though i will prolly just stick with 450dsm's and tune down with my vafc for fuel management until i get over 10psi.
