Default compression test results on 9.1 motor

i just did a compression test here are the results

1# 180
2# 165
3# 180
4# 178

i put a cap of oil in the low cylinder and it did not raise it i wanted to see if you guys would suggest me to get a valve job to bring that one cylinder up but if it was a valve job would it tap or not?

A valve job may not help at all, because it could be that the rings on the pistons are worn. 180 for 9:1 CR motor is normal. The 165 on the number 2 cylender isnt TOO big a difference to lose sleep over. if it was like 100 then i would say you got a problem there.

overall your #'s are within spec for a 9:1 static compression motor. i just wonder if a capful of oil was a lil too much...(not like it would really hurt anything)

My 9:1 compression motor had numbers of 180 all around...

If you can, you should do a leakdown test. That will be a better indicator of how your motor is doing.

That's pretty much the compression i have on my motor right now. I am boosted and have zero blow by and everything is fine. IMHO those numbers are just fine and i wouldn't worry about anything.

BTW the oil trick only works on blown rings and ringlands and i really don't think you have that.

it'll be fine!!!! Dustin had to say this like 8 times! I've been boosting for 7 months hard now and I have lower overall numbers then you...that one cylinder just has a little more blow by.....it's nothing remotely severe
