Default clutch recommendation

I want some opinions on clutches.

This is for an Integra with a SP71GTQ and fully built motor with hondata--looking for over 700whp. I was thinking of using the ACT 6 puck with the Maxx extreme pressure plate and their 8.5 lb flywheel. This will mainly be used for highway races--not too much launching, just a shitload of power.

Does this sound like a good idea or do I need to go with a Tilton carbon multi-plate?

700 is more then what the full blown drag cars that run 9's make.

A SP71 GTQ is a big turbo--the turbo that I have.
quote from sound performance on supraforums:
SP71GTQ This is the newest of the GT turbo technology. The compressor wheel is a one of a kind. It is machined out of a billet piece of aluminum on a 5 axis CNC machine. This allows the wheel to support very high boost levels, making huge power while spooling like a much smaller turbo. RWHP rating is 850. Features the anti-surge compressor cover.

Man you really need to do some research. There is no way in a hell that the ACT 6 puck will hold even with a XXXTreme Pressure Plate. You will need at least a Exedy Twin Disk or a Tilton.

He races on George Bush and the Dallas North Tollway.

700whp+ Daily Driven car is a little excessive, plus you don't know this kid and the way he drives. Just gonna say not a good combination.

I will either use the Tilton multi-plate clutch or the ATS multi-plate--very similar in holding capacity, but the ATS is easier on your leg

I will sort of drive it daily (not in the rain or any other time I don't really want to), but I don't have to drive really far so it is ok

As far as how I drive...you street race too, bulldogg, unless you quit

I don't see anything wrong with highway racing--vettes, vipers, supras, bikes, etc. do it, so might as well do it in a honda, too

1. The Titlton can actually have an engagement as smooth as stock if you get the Titlton Slave Cylinder

2. I have given up street racing after being arrested for it, and am going to further my racing career on the track where I should have kept it all along. Weren't you arrested for street racing? Lesson not learned I take it....if the fines alone, suspension of driver's license, etc aren't enough to show you what could be wrong with it then I don't know what would considering how hard they are cracking down on Street Racing in DFW. Plus how many times are vettes, vipers, supras, bikes, etc targetted by cops? If you are racing one of those and the cop has the choice of going after one of you, who do you think it's gonna be?

As any tranny it just comes down to the driver, wheels, condition of the road, etc. If all he is going to be doing is highway racing then it *might* be ok, but from a deadstop I don't see it lasting too long considering there are cars making only 500+whp that shatter trannies left and right.

not launching it a lot should help--not shocking the drivetrain as much
and I have a KAAZ differential...that amount of power will light em up at 100+mph

yes, i have been arrested for street racing a couple of times, but not on the highway
i will stick to the highway, not regular streets
i have seen a guy in a fairly stock supra get arrested for racing--he was in his 30's, too and many guys with bikes have been harrassed and/or arrested...some multiple times
racing at the track is cool, too--it is just a totally different feeling and type of race
i say do what you prefer and i prefer highway
