Default Clevite 77 bearings

I am in a bit of delema. I bought a sohc vtec block on sunday night, and the guy threw in a full set of brand new Clevite 77 bearings (rods, mains, thrust). Now whenever i build an engine it gets honda bearings, period. I have never looked into ACL, Clevites ever. There bearings are within factory tolerance, but are they going to be decent enough to use? I have heard bad things about the Clevites, mostly hear-say and I wanted to see if any racers out there have personal experience with them.

Clevite is the only thing I used when building domestics, but like many companies their good quality may not have been carried over to their import lineup.

Just thought I would share

Yes, Clevite are very good but ACL is great with the import market. Some of the top import racers use ACL and alot of street cars use ACL bearing also.Camp1320 stocks, sells, and uses ACL bearing on his cars. He stocks 5 of each complete set. $99 plus shipping for

main bearings,rod bearings,assembly lube,plastigage,and trust washers.

Ok, but the point is that I have Clevites, not ACL. I need opinions on the Clevites. If i was going to buy a set, I'd try ACL bearings.

I'd run the Clevites. It not like they are gonna fail on you. Just made different than Honda/ACL's. If they were junk, they'd be out of biz by now.

Awesome, that is the kind of answer that i am looking for. I figured that the bearings couldnt be all that bad, even though i read some stuff on the net a few years ago about how bad their bearings were for imports. I am pretty happy, this saves my girlfriend another 150 or so for bearings! Thanks earl!

That makes no sense. Clevite is a manufacturer, not a repackager.

Honda OEM BEARINGS (ordered at a honda dealership) can be MADE BY DAIDO, TAIHO, OR GLACIER VANDERWELL.

GLACIER VANDERWELL is the manufacturer of CLEVITE Bearings... So, you use OEM Bearings, and they might be the same as the clevites but sorted out into different colors... (probably the same materials)

my local dealership charges $8.00 a half for Z6 bearings. They were out of stock, so i had them check on greens for a Y8 and they were only like 78 cents a half. Clearences checked out and i have close to 2000 miles with no problems.
