Default Clayed new engine. Is piston to head clearance of .030" OK?

Clayed the build I'm doing tonight since the pistons stick out of the F22b1 GE block (8.8:1 pistons and crowers...stock compression, but deck was milled when sleeved).

The valves didnt hit the clay (~.100" thick) with the vtec lobes locked. But the head (between the intake & exhaust valves) smushed the clay to .030-.035" using and old stock gasket.

Have no idea if thats good or bad. Any input?

Anyone?

OK. What would be the typical piston to head clearance of a B,D, or H series?

If your rod bolts stretch more that that then you are in trouble (obviously). You should probably find a Helms manual to get this info.

I have an OEM manual and it mentions nothing of the sort.

All I know is the pistons are the same compression and the block was milled after the sleeving (no milling on the head) and now the new pistons stick up above the sleeves.

Thats why I clayed it.

Just curious to what others have gotten away with for piston to head clearance.

Figured since this beast only goes to 6500 rpm I'd be safe with B/D equivelant spacing.

run a .036 gasket from cometic and you should be okay. We ran in the same problem as well make sure you really check it vtec kicks it changes the valve clearance so make sure you lock it and test it correctl.y

No. I used the how to from here:

http://www.c-speedracing.com/frame.php/

The clearance you find has to be compared to something (i.e. the specs in the OEM manual).

They dont mention the minimum clearance in the OEM manual.
