CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM
Code 43 keeps popping up and I am not understanding why. My fuel setup"
VAFC
DSM 450cc Injectors
Resistor Box
Walboro 255lph Fuel Pump (In Tank)
Symptoms:
Irratic Idle (Up & Down)
Car dies out because idle gets to low)
I don't smell or see any fuel leaks . . . I reset my ECU and took her for a 30 minute drive with no boost, and as soon as I pulled back up at my house the irratic idle started, I revved it a couple times and it died out on me.
What else could it be? This just started recently . . . I had boost creep, so I took off my manifold and turbo and baught another wastegate and slapped that on, I put everything back on, and now I get the propper boost, but the CEL 43 keeps coming on. HHHEEEEEELP!

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (Vtec92Civic)
I had the same problem about 1 month ago. Except I didn't have the irradic idle. Code 43 can be caused by a bad o2 sensor. Since the o2 is bad it causes the ecu to get bad readings and then it tries to compensate by either dumping fuel or leaning it out, thus throwing the code 43. All I did was get a new 02 sensor put it in and I haven't seen the code since. Go to http://www.prostreetonline.com to get you o2 sensor. It comes with the wiring clip already on there. Just need to screw it in and hook up the clip.

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (sneakypete)
so it could be my o2 Sensor then? I have an extra one on my spare z6 motor in the back yard, but I don't see why it would go bad . . . running to rich mess up your o2 sensor?

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (1.8t)
one of my friends bought a 91 teg that wasnt ran for a couple months...after we got it running the cel 43 would come on every now and then...after a few days of beating on the car the cel went away and hasnt been back in a few days...but he is still having that idleing problem...we thing that just might be a coolant problem...we noticed it is low and the coolant doesnt really look like coolant anymore so we're gonna flush the system and see if that helps

wow that nuts . . . I just changed my fuel filter not to long ago. For the most part the CEL 43 went away . . . but then it threw another CEL . . . I believe it was 6 coolant temp. sensor or some ****. but we reset the ecu and everything and the code hasn't come back yet

CEL 43 can also be caused by an overly rich condition. I personally believe your problem is an overly rich condition. That explains your idle problems. Pull a plug and see if it's carbon fouled. Last year, I had the same CEL and the problem was that I was running extremely rich. It could be a number of things that could set this code off, but I have a feeling this is the problem. Good luck.

i occasionally get code 43, and ive done practically everything exept change the fuel filter, so im pretty convinced its my fuel filter giving me trouble. and also its been 70K miles since its been changed, so its almost gotta be the problem

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (TurboCX)
well we got the CEL to go away, but I will check my plugs anyways as soon as I can. I believe you could be right about running overly rich . . . although you would never know since the AF meter isn't accurate until Wide Open Throttle, right? The only way to tell is I guess by checking the plugs. So by running overly rich . . . what exactly am I looking for?
Better to run rich then lean right? I know this one's a bit off subject, but how can I retard my timing using the dizzy? Which way is advancing and which way is retarding if I am standing at the front of the car?

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (Vtec92Civic)
I had the same code once about a year ago. I had one of those pieces of **** b@m fuel pressure regulators on there and it messed my fuel all up. I ended up poping my ring lands soon after. After my rebuild i slapped a stock regulator back on.

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (quickda6)
i get it too on my prelude, i changed my fuel filter when the new motor went in, that's when the CEL 43 started to occur. I guess i'll get a new 02 sensor.

Re: CEL 43 FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM (seen4ever)
up from the search*** having the same problem.
For those who have replaced their O2 sensor, did it fix the problem (cel 43).
My fuel filter was recently replaced about 10k miles ago & the cel 43 started showing up after taking my intake manifold off for cleaning. I don't want to spend so much money for an o2 sensor but if this is what fixed the problem then I'll give it a try. So please give me an update for those who have tried this. Thanks in advance.
