Default Catback/muffler recommendation

Few questions: I'm going 7-10 psi boost on my GSR on stock motor with stock cat and exhaust

1. Which is more worth the cost? high-flow cat or upgrade exhaust (catback/muffler)
2. I want a muffler which provide better flow, but I don't want the ricey loud muffler, I want it as close to stock noise as possible, this is a daily driver and I want elegance with real power, not showoff.

Suggestions?

if you are keeping the boost at 7 psi. with the cat, any 2.5 piping system will work. i have always gone with either 2.5" or 3" with a free flowing muffler. mine is loud as hell, 3" with an Apexi N1,but i think a 2.5 custom with a magna flow will work for you.

2.5" with a Magnaflow is a good setup, the magnaflow will give you a nice deep low tone that wont be too loud or annoying. If not that I hear the RSR EXMAG is the quietest catback system out and it sounds almost like stock.

Your closest bet would be hytech or mugen. They use a dual pass muffler which imo is the best compromise for stock-like noise vs flow. The s2000 uses the same idea but i have no idea how well it flows.

If dual pass is out of your budget id go with a straight through like magnaflow or es oval.

RSR for sure, very quiet and looks good too.

I use a kteller 3 inch system with a resonator and I recently switched from a magnaflow straight through to a dynomax super turbo I think (chambered). The 3 inch with magnaflow sounded good and wasn't THAT loud but the dynomax quieted it down quite a bit and still flows really well since it has 3 inch internal flow tubes. I can barley hear it cruising on the highway and it just sounds mean when you open it up.
