car smokes on deacceleration..need help...
i am going to do another comp. test 2moro.. i will post my results.. thanks for all the help.. i really wana get to the end of this crap...lol...
ok i drove my car last nite around the block an it will not smoke until its warm.... once the temp guage rises to its normal spot it starts smoken.... is that a sign of a oil ring???
What pistons are in the car? With low silicon pistons, as the car heats up the pistons expand. If oil's passing your rings smoke can decrease when the motor gets warm. When my oil rings were bad it would smoke all the time and get worse the higher the rpm. Temp didn't really matter
Im dealing with a similar issue now. I changed my stem seals a few weeks ago. I can check the stick and its at full, go drive one day and get home and its still full. Go drive another day with similar habbits and its chewed up a 1/4 quart in 30 miles. Its a strange one indeed. My rings are brand new, so I don't think this is my issue. I am going to switch from 5w-30 to 10w-30. I also found a few leaks underneath the car I will address also. Hopefully between the two I can solve the consumption issue.
how long did you let it sit? did you spray it in a couple of times as it went down past the pistons? i keep on pooling it up
i sprayed a good amount in each one.. It set about 4hrs.. Why is it really ony smokes when warm??? I dnt get it... It dont smoke at start up, or under pressure, only when i let off the gas then accelerate....
The whole PB blaster "Trick" won't do a damn thing unless you have stuck/gummed up rings. Other then that, its a complete waste of time.

ok just for the record yesterday i done a 2nd compression check... 200 across the board.. i read in my haynes manual on the pcv valve chapter that if i got a bad ring that it will put blow by in the air breather... which i dnt have a breather box so i pulled the intake pipn off on looked into the intake manifold and i got oil in the manifold which tells me that its coming thru the pcv valve... so i think i do have a ring problem..

I'm still running my hot winter thermostat, so i'll change that this week, but i'm suspecting that the high vacume is creating a drainback problem for the turbo...like maybe sucking the line closed.
I was gonna tear it down an just go thru the whole motor but i really dnt wana if its sumthin small.. I got people tellen me that its a chance of it being valve guides... I would think if thats the case i would get smoke when i start the car but thats not the case... Im running outa suggestions...
When you figure it out, let me know. My ls/vtec does the same thing. Changed the valve stem seals, same thing.
Only other things it could be is either the valve guides and/or oil control rings.

Is your PCV valve setup right??? I know if its not setup right then it will suck oil into the intake. Got any pics of how yours is setup???
any conclusion to this problem? We should recap, or make it a sticky. seems like a lot of people have this problem....
Things to check:
1. charge pipe or oil
2. intake manifold for oil
3. down pipe for oil
4. compression check
5. check pcv system
6. pinched oil line

I removed my intake manifold to get to the bottom of things. My car was STILL eating oil after new stem seals. Anyways, mine turned out to be from the PCV system. Time for a catch can.
I have a catch can.... but it remains empty.. Most likely because im burnin so much oil. I had to put in a quart and a half today after 300 miles maybe. Ive been drivin it hard, but still.
I also figured out that I only get the smoke after I shift and press the gas. If I shift and dont give it any gas or even down shift and dont give it gas, it wont blow smoke.
Not too mention, Im running rich. If my rings are bad, would it cause this much smoke and oil loss? Any suggestions?

Your turbos exhaust seal is bad. When you decel it creates a vacuum in the exhaust manifold that takes the thrust load on the shaft that is keeping the oil in normally off, and oil escapes past. That's why blown turbos are often associated with a lot of shaft play.
