car running lean

car running lean
I was wondering if anyone knows why my car is running lean especially when I let go of the gas pedal. Will it help if I change my fuel injectors? I was planning on running RC 440cc, do I need to change anything else with that like fuel rail, pump, injector clips? What kind of ecus do a 98 civic EX d16y8 have and obd type?

you have an obd2 ecu. It might help if you post your current fuel setup. Oh and it is normal for your car to go full lean when you let off the gas pedal.

For fuel management I am using the greddy blue box. When I am driving, I am mostly on lean. I only have 1 bar lite up for stoich and rich and 4 bars lite up on lean.

Sounds like you are using a cheap Autometer a/f guage or something... not very accurate for tuning... get a wideband as soon as you can. In any case, during cruising conditions the ecu will be in closed loop mode, so it will try to maintain a stoich afr ~ 14.5 - 14.7. During deceleration the ecu will cut power to the injectors for fuel economy, so the af guage will read lean. It is normal.
