Re: cams (hks3630)
i was talkin to miller from NRG tech about this today, he was telling me that an aggressive am is not bad but you just dont want all of the over lap that the all motor cams have. he was telling me about rockets turbo cams. i think im gonna try them.

if you dont wanna spend the money, then stock cams are fine. not alot of overlap ius good for turbos. if you have adjustable cam gears you can tune the stock ones fine

Re: (Jared)
look im not sayin that stock gsr cams are bad but.....there is nothing wrong with a good set of turbo cams either. if your willing to spend the money give rockets cams a try.

Re: (miller)
if you are gonna do your valve train up then do a turbo cam but if ont for lik 10 12 and even 15 you can ride on a stock cam just the turbo cams are gonna make more power

High lift/duration cames will produce more power, but your car will not run as smoothly at low RPM. You can get all the power you want by upping the boost; so why go to cams that mess with your low end? I would only suggest more aggressive cams if you are building a car strictly for drag racing. If you are going to be driving it on the street then stick with the stock cams. There are better things to spend your money on.

Re: cams (fredtoast)
Turbo cams will not mess up your low end. Naturally aspirated cams will mess up the low end because of the huge duration and overlap that most n/a cams come with. One of the reasons that the gsr engine is such a great n/a engine is the ridiculous amount of overlap, especially on the vtec lobes. This overlap raises the dynamic compression ratio of the engine and allows more air to enter the combustion chamber. But on a turbocharged car this is not needed. Pressurized air will enter through the intake valves and blow right throught the combustion chamber out the exhuast valves. Turbo cams have very high lift to allow lots of air to flow, but short duration to ensure no blowby occurs. I'm sure your turbo gsr may seem very fast, but with the proper cams and some good tuning you will realize just how much more power you could be putting to wheels.
