Hello everyone this is my first post on honda-tech and I hope I am not asking a stupid frequently asked question but I am new to the import scene and I am getting a 2nd gen CRX soon and I want to put a turbo B series motor in it, right now I am leaning towards a LS motor but I had a question about putting a VTEC head on it, a friend of mine tells me that there is no need for a vtec head on a turbo motor if you plan on getting aftermarket cams, I suspect you can make similar power with a nonvtec setup but I would like this car to be very streetable and I dont want to kill the bottom end tq and driveability, what kind of gain in HP can I expect with a vtec head + cams vs a ls head + cams while keeping everything streetable(60 miles a day).

your best bet is to do a lot of reading around here....use the SEARCH function, etc. but, you do not NEED to ever put a vtec top end on a LS, its never a necessity, people make plenty of power out of turbo ls's every day. i've seen over 300 whp on a completely stock ls, there are dyno charts floating around daily with similar numbers...300 hp is a LOT of hp for a crx. i'm very content with around 190 whp with my single cam.....but, just do a lot of reading before you post. normally you'd get FLAMED like crazy for posting a question like you just did....thats probably why you didnt get any response.

 

Well I just did some archive search's and I came up with much better results, I wasnt finding any info w/o using the archive function. Thanks for the tip.
