Calling out all automatic boost guys ...
um, ive driven one. they are zero fun and take zero skill to drive and unless you have a built auto with a seriously high stall speed, then they are ALOT slower too.

Not true, if Honda made a auto tranny that could take the abuse I would be willing to bet most if not all of the top Turbo4/SFWD cars would be using a auto. Look at all the fastest cars be it a Mustang, Camaro, Supra, Neon, ect.. all that have available auto tranny that can hold the power are using them and getting better times, less drivetrain breakage, easier to control the power and put it to the ground.

First you assume none of us drive manual which just boggles my mind as to where you came up with that assumption, and then you post that great bit of misinformation. Instead of telling all of us to "learn to shift" maybe you should learn to research a little bit
2/3 cars I have owned have been manual, while the auto one has been swapped to manual. And yes, I do prefer driving manual by far, but that doest mean the auto wasnt fun. Building boost off the line w/o a two step and the boost not dropping off between the gears made for a very fun car imo.
My only gripe with the honda auto other then the obvious was the super long gearing.

sorry im a REAL driving purist. not just drag racing, i actually DRIVE my car.
have you ever braked into a corner and rev match so perfectly that you feel like you never even slowed at all? not with an auto you didnt.

... blah blah blah there's one of you in every thread. You are not going to win arguing a subjective matter.
Anywho back on track.....

Tech Stuff - The factory Honda Civic automatic transmission clutch plates are, by design, relatively small, which is a limiting factor in torque capacity. In order to increase the torque capacity of these plates, we've partnered with Alto and the result is all new Red Eagle® clutches that withstand higher temperatures than any other clutch available.
Red Eagle® clutches are designed with a softer, more resilient base paper which imparts less wear against the opposing steel plates. They are then saturated in a phenolic resin and undergo a second saturation in a silicate, which imparts high heat resistance to the friction paper.
Couple these terrific clutches with our Kolene® treated steels and you've got a winning combination. The salt bath nitriding process on these steels provides a surface treatment that enhances wear and fatigue resistance up to 500%.
In short, this Red Eagle® clutch/Kolene® steel combination will shorten clutch lock-up time, reduce heat due to slip, increase fatigue resistance; bolstering your transmission against the increased torque of your modified Honda power plant.

I still see nothng about the valvebodies which I was always aware of being the weakness of the tranny :shrugs:
I guess I'd be sold on it if they have a good amount of high power auto hondas running this kit to prove me wrong, but you just don't see them
I'm hoping they put this kit through some vigorous testing while they engineered it.
Also, I remember hearing about a company called MobilTek out of Houston that did this kind of upgrade for the Nissan Maxima automatic and I'm pretty sure the Maxima guys were pretty happy with its performance. I don't think they are around anymore though.

C'mon guy, go talk sh*t somewhere else. Most of us here do have a 5spd car, but we also have autos. We all know how to drive, and we all throw our cars into some sort of turn because that's why we drive a Honda and not a muscle car.
If you ask me which car is more fun; my 5spd turbo Integra, or my turbo Camry auto? On the streets, the Camry will be my favourite car because I can actually put those 400+ WHP on the ground with street tires and be able to concentrate on things ahead of me, my engine, etc.. and not have to worry about shifting. If you have an underpowered 5spd car like the one in your sig (
), it's great because you can wait 10 secs or so until the next gear shift. If you have a 350+ WHP turbo 5spd car, especially a Honda, you'd hate shifting through all 4 gears in about 15 secs or so

I really want to get the Eldebrock Kit for my D16Y8 auto... I'm going to reinforce my tranny as well... my car in it's N/A form is producing 114.3whp and 101.7 Torque... I hope I go close to 200whp and 180ft-lb torque.
I have a boosted auto and a boosted manual. Done right, boosted autos can be just as much fun or more for normal street driving and even for a bit of canyon carving. It's all in the setup.

Havent done enough to break it if it will break. but...
'00 teg GS auto
Greddy/Custom Turbo kit (used a partial greddy kit[turbo and injectors], had some other stuff manifactured and shiz)
td05-18G
310CC injectors
greddy EBC
homemade FMIC
greddy style BOV
AEM EMS
GS-R IM
tranny cooler
Running 10psi no problems yet.
Tranny holding good at 64k miles, been turbo'd for 7k now
No dyno #'s yet but hopefully that will change by next month.

I finally got my car back together and tuned by shaun church. Put down 186.5whp and 165tq at 9.5psi. I also got 61mpg in one stretch of hwy when I went to washington. The rest of the time I got about 40. I plan to up the boost when I can figure out how to get the boost controller not to let the boost spike to 18psi at 2500rpm.

Don't mean to add fuel to the fire, but I know EXACTLY what you mean...but to each his own, I'd like to do an auto turbo some time.

lucas said that that cars more fun to drive then the 5 speeds haha.
