Default Buying used internals?

I was just wondering if this is safe. I don't think I like the idea of buying used pistons, but used rods are way cheap on ebay. A few weeks ago I saw a set of Crowers with a claimed 1K miles go for $200.

Is it too risky to buy used rods? Is there a way to examine them for signs of wear or stress?

People for years have been using used OEM parts in their rebuilds. Aftermarket parts wouldnt be any differnt. Get the rods checked so u get the correct fitted bearings and I dont see where a problem would occur.

Well, I was thinking that aftermarket parts are more likely to be abused. I mean, why would someone sell low mileage rods or pistons unless they blew their motors?

different compression, bigger bore, more power, so need stronger rods. You cant really go wrong with a used rod, if it broke it broke, you cant super glue it back together. And you can tell if there were problems with a piston also.

I bought my Srp 9.5:1 pistons and my eagle h beam internals, used for 7k at 15psi. for $400

Bought a set of rings and bearings for $165 and I plan to spray a 150 shot on them

******* things better hold, dontsee why they wouldnt unless there was visible scarring

Saved me a good bundle, basically payed for the machine work to the block and milling of the head
