Default burning hondata prom problems

i have a 3b system with a pocket programer i am trying to burn the at29c256 chip. i go in and make a couple changes and save the bin file. Then write the file to the chip and the burn software says it went fine (win_pp2) but when i hit "m" and load the data off the chip the old map is still there.

how do format the chip first?

You're kidding right ? You don't need to erase the chip... just write(burn) over it.

Did you do this?

1. Load bin into buffer.
2. Move buffer to device.
3. verify device?

if it verifies fine, then the new bin should be on the chip.
