Default budgeting for turbo

Wanted to know how much to budget for a turbo kit for a 99 gsr. I was thinking about a drag 3 kit. I am planning on running pretty much stock internals for now with a low amount of boost. The car is my daily driver and I'm worried about reliability, but not enough to keep me from boosting it. I would be happy with 200 to 230 hp.

thanks in advance

There is no budget cause you will always have problems or something else is needed once you learn more and more about FI. I had a budget of 3g's and I still need more shyt . You want to do it right the first time so you will have to fork up the cash , it's not a cheap hobby. Look to spend definitely over 4 g's and have more $$$$$$ to save for problems that lie ahaed.

So what about the "bolt on" kits? Do they make it that much easier or less expensive? If so is one better than the others?

no, because you'll end up upgrading everything in a "bolt on kit." The downpipe might not be big enough for your horsepower goals, so you'll get a bigger one, then boost will keep spiking so you'll get a tial instead of the delta... then youi'll be pissed that you're only at 285 whp at 18 psi, so you'll get a newer, bigger turbo...

the list goes on.

do a "price list" and add onto that about 500-1000 bucks for repairs and upgrades. That's pretty realistic
