Broken ringlands!!!
Well I thought I'd post this up for the next time an argument starts about why you shouldn't boost on stock h22a internals...
Here's some of the mayhem.
This was with good conservative tuning and 6.5psi after 3-4 months of boosting...
I was on the dyno nothing spiked, a/f was good and timing was fine, it just let go.

I cheaped out and learned my lesson, but atleast it forced me to do it right.

i cant wait to see mine, 12 psi, 60-1, 12:1 fmu, and hack. lol. 3 pulls, it wouldnt rev anymore
compression was 80, 55, 110, 40
somehow still runs, just doesnt do much else

im only going to go 9-10psi anyways... just do LA oem iron sleeves... there good to 14-15psi and if i go to the track... ill run 12.... 12psi on an H23 should produce around 300whp with the right tuning... fuel supply, and turbo... im thinkin T3/To4e .60 60trim... that should do it. GOT DAMN FRM THAT **** MAKES ME SO DAMN PISSES... GOD DAMN LS TEGS CAN BOOST 12PSI STOCK ALL DAY LONG... SON OF A BITCHIN H SERIES
The timing was very conservative forget what it was set at. Had about 5-6 hours of tuning done on that map and it was an excellent tune. I'm confident the tuning wasn't the issue.
I had been running "the hack" on it before I got the EMS so I may have done some damage back then and it finally let go, dunno. One of my other pistons had a nice clean crack on the ringlands aswell.
I think the melting/nastyness came from me trying to drive it home after it let go on only 2.5cyl's
It ran for a bit but then finally died about halfway home.
Not a big deal soon as it went I knew I was getting sleeves/pistons/rods/etc so I wasn't to worried about the aftermath.
It had a wonderfull WRX sound and a hugea$$ cloud of smoke behind me all the way home

Heh, working on it...
Should be done in about 2 weeks just waiting on delivery of some parts...

Hopefully now I have gotten rid of anything else I cheaped out on... Just need some bigger injectors and a fuel pump so I can crank it up...

Hrmm, I'll have to look into that. I had those injectors cleaned and balenced about 5-6months prior and they were fine. Maybe one got clogged or something. I am still running my stock civic ex fuel pump, fuel pressure was fine, but maybe it finally couldn't keep up...dunno.

dude havent u read anything here. its not all in the tune all the time. its also depends on the reliabilty of the other components. Im willing to bet an injector froze or died.

Yes you are right an injector could have failed....granted that could be a possibility...but if you read his post he is implying that the stock H22 can not handle a mere 6.5 psi..which is simply not true....

you guys should go to preludeonline.com and look at how many stock preludes have blown because of week ringlands. Ask the guys in the prelude forum about the ringlands and they will tell u they are the weak point in the motor.

Been there 3 times...
