Default BOV's not staying closed... WTF?

DOes anyone else have the problem with non-adjustable blowoff valves not staying clsed when idling? The first BOV I ever used was a greddy type-s , I love the sound and ability to modulate it.

When I pulled a new turbo from a volvo, I also grabbed the blowoff valve from it. I put that on my car, and realized it would stay partially open at idle, and sounded as if it would stay like that under boost.

Next, I had a turbo xs BOV this dude with an srt4 gave me. I put that on, and for some reason, it didn't even make a sound, but DID operate correctly.

Third one, I put a dsm bov, the metal one on, and it functioned exactly like the volvo piece of ****.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is it just that all the blowoff's suck? Thanks in advance

I'm using one of those volvo bov (adjustable, though), and mine doesn't close at idle neither. Maybe the vacuum at idle is strong enough to hold the bov open.

it common for the BOV to be open under vacuum, how do you think it opens when you shift? vacuum pressure...

naw, mine didn't close. I think most of those bov's dont close all the way because they have the recirculation crap from the factory, but nonetheless, the dsm makes a half *** whistle when I've heard it's supposed to make a koosh sound. don't know.

Some of the Tials won't close at idle either- it depends on the spring used.

DVs and BOVs are supposed to open at idle, genius, otherwise they wouldn't open when you shift.

Yeah, when it sees vacuum, which happens when idling, it's supposed to open.

Just a little fyi.. if you crush the DSM BOV you won't have as much leakage, and it will hold more boost.
