Icon2 BOV, what is this style called? what type is this?

What is the difference between these blow off valves style/type-wise?
here is what i have installed now:

and what i received recently:
http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&c...2&tx=111&ty=93

I am not finding any blow off valves that have a bottom or similiar style to the one my car has installed already.

most appear to be like the 2nd pictured one that i have on hand but not installed.

anyone know the difference between them, as in, what is the first one's type referred to? i assume the 2nd one, the "type rs" is better than the no-name strange styled one already installed so i may replace it. surprisingly you can get hks ssqviii bov's for only about $50 which is $10 more than these knock offs go for. Surely the HKS is WAY better and for the small amount of money more WAY worth it.

But anyway, what is pictured first is what is installed now, and the other pictured one is what I have on hand.

thanks for any help in deciphering what the assumedly shitty bov installed currently's story is.

You aren't looking hard enough.

Those used to be all over Ebay. Just like the ones you linked to.
You won't be able to use the BOV you just got on that piping without some modification or a new section of piping.

ah ok. i figured so i already ordered a 6" long 3" wide pipe with the bov flange on there so that i can put that between some prexisting piping to use the new bov if need be.

i say if need be, because i do not believe it is worth asking a shop to replace the bov i have in there now with the one i just received if it is going to require them to cut prexisting piping and to weld in the new 6" that contains the flange for the new bov right? obviously this is a personal question, but i mean really is there much of a point to pay $100+ for a shop to cut some pipe and weld in the new piece with the flange for this bov?

are the more common style bov's better in some way generally due to their construction or method of attachment, or just same but different?

i figured i would order the piece needed and have it on hand with the new bov in case i needed it later or decided to swap it out after all if it was worth it. but i doubt i will unless their is a serious reason to consider it.

what say you all? please note: i am not looking for the long term/top notch setup here, just want this setup to continue working as-is more or less, but if there are definite benefits, in your opinion, to be had with this type-rs greddy style bov please do let me know. thanks!

Foxie
The only answer we give you is what will work. I see you just want something to get by, but we know those parts don't work and can cause other issues.

The pipe you ordered is 3in wide? That's mighty wide sir, did you measure how wide your piping is on the motor? (Damn that sounds gay) most intercoolers piping is 2.5in wide I believe. As to what bov I recommend, tial with a 9lb spring inside and then you just buy the piping that is ready flanged for it
