Default BOV on an auto...

my pops just got an 05 Forester XT in an auto trans, i couldnt talk him into a manual, he drives alot in socal traffic everyday. anyway, i was wondering how a blow off valve would sound w/ an auto tranny, is it worth getting one. i love the sound of a loud bov.

uh, when the manifold went to vacuum while there was boost, it would sound like a bov... Any other time it would play jingle bells

That's just a weird one! I mean when I think we all know what auto's are like when they shift.....they don't exactly let off the acceleration really so i doubt your BOV will be loud if it goes off at all.

Wait a second....Forester...is that turbo charged???? WTF is going on

Its the same, my friend has an auto Supra, and it blows off loud as ****. Anywho, about the Forrester, you can get the new ones with the Sti motor in it. 2.5 turbo.. its their second fastest car in the lineup, haha.

Yeah, I think the whole scooby lineup has turbo motors now. Nice perk. As was stated before, the bov works the same in an auto as in a manual car. You won't hear it during shifts b/c you don't let up on the gas with an auto. Same thing would happen if you did full-throttle shifts on a manual car.

Doesn't it only release pressure through the blow off valve if you let off the gas? when at WOT and it auto shfits, it doesn't let anything off, correct?
