Default borg warner turbo

my friend is doing a s2000 turbo build and currently looking for a turbo. he decided to go with borg warner over garrett and precision. now just wants to figure out sizing of the turbos. hes looking for something comparable to a gt40r in a borg warner.

i found a s300sx 91/79. would this be the turbo to get? or should i get something else? i dont see on borgs website any info on the s366s. is it even a full borg turbo or is it a hybrid?

will be happy with 700whp on a built motor

Even built an S372 is ridiculous for street use and horrible overkill for anything practical.. No larger than a S362 (or S262 in the smaller compressor cover) is really necessary. Using the 80mm exhaust wheel could work, and comes in the .70A/R turbine housing in a V-band clamp. Very good for the budget and fitment. He'll make over 600whp, and anything more, he needs to have a different rear end that won't kill itself anyway.

a s362, now this is a bullseye turbo correct? not a full borg? whats the difference between the borg s300sx 91/79 and the bullseye s362? 362 will be a good turbo for street use as well?

The S300 91/79 is what is known as a "box" unit, in which the compressor cover is extremely large to fit into the engine bay with a lot of issues, and may have a turbine housing fitment and adaptability issues, comes from Borg-Warner direct, and takes quite a bit to integrate. The S362, is a Bullseye Power /Borg-Warner turbocharger. This means that they change the cover to something a bit more reasonable for fitment and use w/ the v-band clamp , and have a turbine housing that will fit for the cartridge a bit more efficiently. Its still all borg-warner parts, but uses Bullseye Power machining processes for housings and specificiations. That doesn't lessen the quality of it in any way.

As I stated in my last post, the S262 (which is a S362 in a S256 compressor cover for more compactability), and even possibly the S362 (the compressor cover is LARGE, so fitment may be an issue but can't confirm), is more than enough for an S2000 for those needs. I've configured with the use of these before.

so a 256 would get me 650-700whp?

how would you compare a borg to a garrett or a precision? are they up to par? any other turbo you would recommend?

No. I'm saying that the S262, is actually an S362 turbocharger whose compressor wheels was squeezed into the cover of an S256. It's like taking a GT35R and putting in a T04E cover instead of a T04S with which it originally came in.

I would compare these to a Garrett/STC Reaper, or Precision 6262 for similar size. They just vary slightly in response characteristics and the internal structure of the cartridge. They all work efficiently, but differently. At this point, its more of a matter of preference, budget (maximum willingness to pay), and if he wants more top end or more powerband, as well as fitment. If is manifold is set for a Garrett or Precision, it may fit differently for fitment for a Borg-warner. (Cartridge is shorter than the other two companies). If he's making his own manifold and/or downpipe, that may not be an issue. There's not a best here. this is where your friend needs to be specific in what he's looking for to go further. If there are questions between the 3, please PM me.

start here for basic sizing.

first one gets you close (found its boost pressures are a little overkill)

this one is the best so far

Same as I stated above, just physically larger, and less responsive. Really an unnecessary size for an S2000 that plans to do a lot of street use. But I am the conservative type that believes in using a smaller size in a better part of the efficiency island, not just some big snail just to say that its big.

But I am talking to young hormones on here a lot, so, its up to you and your friend to determine what's important for your build.
