Default boosting a b16. simple q's.

hi.

i have $5000 to put into my car.

im thinking b16 + turbo kit.

i need to factor in the cost of mounts, exhaust fabrication, axles, etc. because it is going into an S model del sol.

i have a few questions though. since the engine will be a 92-95 (SiR-II) i assume it will be an OBDI, and i can use the P30 ecu that comes with it?

what kind of boost can i run on a stock b16 SAFELY?

what kind of fuel management should i be looking at? i was thinking dsm 450cc injectors and the apexi hack...

can anyone enlighten me? please dont say search, i did and i tried each question individually, and came up with waaaay too much **** to sort though.

no. i asked more a broader question, and started an argument thread over why ls is better than d series and so on.

if the ecu is obd1, then you can use it.

alot of people are running around 300hp (including me) on a stock b16/b18. everyone defines "safe" a little differently.

look into using uberdata with those 450's, much better alternative than the hack.

no kit here. the psi isn't really important. you need to pick peak hp goals, and your powerband goals and then pick the turbo/turbo kit that will meet those goals.

Find a B16 or B18B OBD1 and get a rev hard or drag kit...thats enough to whoop some asses

If you can get a B18C1 without breaking your budget....that will even be better
Spend around $2k for the swap..and $3k for turbo and fuel management stuffie.

dude cheap way of doing it is peicing together your own swap...don't buy full swaps...you can get a B16 engine for like 600 bucks.....then buy some used axles for cheap and a few little odds and ends and your set

I personally am a B16a3 man myself....and have you ever thought of checking ebay? Heck I have 5 bare B16 blocks and have spent 130 bucks on them and that includes shipping...most of them I got for 1.00 plus shipping I have B16 heads I bought for as little as 100 bucks shipped...all about bargain shopping and patience...

so what it comes down to is this:

whats better to boost, gsr or b16?
1800 for the gsr, 900 for the b16.

is it worth the extra cash to go for the gsr?

then i have to find a tranny, a lsd, an ecu, axles, del sol vtec shift linkage...

THEN i can put on a turbo kit, and tune it.

If only it was that simple
It should be that simple, but it never seem's to be, just be sure to keep about $600 in the bank to cover the problems you will have.
