Icon3 Boosted B16A

Hey there HT. After much hesitation and pondering, I'm deciding to build up my B16A and boost it. I've gone through the basic process of having a built head. but I have a few questions, and advice would be great. Im planning to run a gt30 turbo (no ebay **** on this build). Im wondering what would be a better turbo position (ie. top mount, side mount, or bottom mount) for power and functionality. Im running 9.0:1 81.5mm forged pistons and eagle rods (debating on CP pistons vs Wiseco pistons) And if the b16 block would need to be sleeved in order to prevent cracking. Im planning this car to be a daily running about 9-15 psi (11 is what i've been recommended).

I've got the basics, forged internals and supertech product head (springs, valves retainers etc) just need a good set up to go with. thanks

i would bump up the compression to 9.8 area, but thats just me. Since its built and revving way past 6, a ram, mini ram will be great for flow for that turbo.

everything else you probably know already

you should base your goal on how much horse power you want, not how much boost you want to run. sleeving is always a good thing since people usually get boost crazy and want more power

realistically, Im looking for 250hp, but the ability to go to 300+hp <--very unlikely

That can be done on a healthy, stock B16A all day!

250hp you don't need to be sleeved but it's always a safe idea. You will probably want more power later on that's a guarantee!!!

BUMP--> Now moved up to about a target goal of 350. I wish to know more about what exactly do I ask a machine shop to do to my block and head (given the exception of port and polish) prior to buying parts.

I am also after this 350 goal myself on my b18.

I am going with the (very inexpensive, but very well-respected) CSS treatment for my block. It's worlds cheaper than sleeving, but very good for these power numbers (as I've read).

Jeff from CNCWerx frequents the forums too, and has his ear to the ground. Very communicative, and helpful to me so far. I recommend.

Also, I saved on injectors by going with SmartFire, super inexpensive:

4 SMARTFIRE 850cc High Impedance Injectors Honda Civic Acura Integra GSR B16 B18 B20 B18c B18b D16 : Amazon.com : Automotive 4 SMARTFIRE 850cc High Impedance Injectors Honda Civic Acura Integra GSR B16 B18 B20 B18c B18b D16 : Amazon.com : Automotive

They get mixed reviews from people, but in almost every case, if an injector is failing, they send you new stuff. Others will have a different opinion I'm sure, but this is what I'm using.

I'm going high compression, low boost (10.5-11.0:1 range) to achieve my goals, to get better throttle response, better low end, and have the turbo spin sooner. Not planning on going above 12psi. Maybe 8-10psi. I have lots of head work, big throttle body, Skunk2 manifold, and other things too. Without those things, I'd just probably go 16-18psi though to make the same power.
