Default Boosted B16 with Type are cams.... worth the time?

Well I am almost done with buying parts to turbo my CRX with a B16. I rode in my freinds NA B16 CRX with CTR cams and like the way it feels. Feels like a B18 with the midrange tourque it makes. It had me thinking of what these cams to with turbo... is this even worth the time or am I better off with my stock cams?

If I were to choose or had the time and extra cash, I would swap out the gsr cams and get CTR/Type-R.

Type R cams are WELL WORTH the time and a couple hundred bucks. It's not like the gsr cams won't make power, it's just that the r's will make more. IMO it's a very cost-effective upgrade.

I understand the cams are outstanding for upgrading, but what about other cams all together, would a set of Toda Spec B's be worth it if going turbo???

Doesn`t the toda b cams have to much duration and to long overlap that will create a blow through.
since the intake opens so early right after the fourth stroke while the exhauste valve still open

Maybe you`ll loose power? or atleast powerband..

I know the type R cams have pretty wild duration, but they still work best.

A thumb roule say: with turbo decrease overlap and duration .

at what point do they start making power over the GSR's?

i'm wondering if they'll benifit a 300-350whp setup...

You roule of thumb is wrong. lower duration = lower high RPM VE = less top end power.

GSC Motorsports Camshaft Test

Funny how those lower duration, lower overlap "turbo" camshafts got abso-*******-lutely shitkicked to the tune of a 15% gain in peak power from a jun2/S2S1 cam combination.

adspeed just built a car running a GT35R and it made 530 WHP on 18 psi and 625 WHP on 24 psi of boost, with Skunk2 Stage 2 cams all around. That's pretty damn good for all that duration and overlap killing the power of a turbo car. My 84mm ball bearing PT67 LSR motor is going to be running skunk2 pro1+ cams, and I'm betting it's going to make some serious power over it's B16/GSR/ITR cam'ed counterparts.

Doesn't the ITR/CTR intake cam and GSR exhaust cam a good combo? I was thinking about this setup myself for my B16.

I think with boost, swapping stock GSR's to type R's would benifet in any FI application, the amount of power gain will vary with whatever power u started with.
