Default boost spike problem.

i have a small turbo with my kit i am using , wastegate is supposed to be 7-8 psi , but when i drive on highway 1st and 2nd are ok but soon as i hit 3rd and start movin pretty good boost creeps past 8. so far its gone to about 11 and i saw and let off right away. ive tried another wastegate on the turbo and it does the same thing.. its internally gated, vacuum source for wastegate i ran to nipple on the turbo compressor.. i only usin an fmu for fuel management and not to mention its a stock bottom end.. im not sure how much more it would have boosted after i let off but i dont wanna find out,.. is there any way to fix this?

are you using a boost controller? I'm assuming not - I suggest you get one(a good one). Are you using a tial wastegate?
