i was thinking about sealing up the hole and running the wastegate from the intake manifold, does that sound better?

I would guess that they said that becausse it is the port for the wastegate. The closer it is to the compressor th faster esponce the wastegate has.

because a revhard kit doest come with a boost controller. you can hook it up to your wastegate, but you will see less boost than if you were to use a vaccum source on your IM. i'd say plug it for now

From my personal experience, I would run your wastegate vac source off the turbo as shown in the pic.
Reason being, a few months back, I had my wastegate tapped off the Intake Manifold, well low and behold, i couldnt figure out why i was only boosting 4 psi instead of 6. well i always thought it was the delta gate wastegate since i was getting atleast some boost.....
Turns out, i tore a rubber coupling and it was leaking boost, meanwhile spooling the **** out of my turbo. The wastegate never opened because it didnt see the 6 psi....
Moral of the story, Its safer to run the wastegate vac source off the side of the turbo.
