Default To boost or not to boost, that is my question..

Well I have finally saved enough money for a motor. I have my heart set on going b18b1 turbo, but..

I live in Cali and there are so many damn restrictions. So I am turning to my H-T brothers and sisters to help me figure out what I should do. Should I just stick with my plan and just go LS-Turbo?

What do you guys think?

Please help me with my decesion. Its either this, or I will just save more money get a b18c1 and go N/A.

Any imput is greatly appreciated!

If you can afford it, then go ahead. But, I hope you realize that when you turbo a honda, its a never ending money pit. You spend and spend and spend, and well, you get the picture.

Well money is not the issue, because I love my car.. My big issue is getting harrassed by the cops in california.. Is it worth the hassle?

Anybody from cali with any advice?

You should already have a good idea on what kind of responses you'll get in this forum. But what are your goals for the motor/car anyways? As far as HP, type of racing you plan to do, budget, etc.....

Well my main and only concern is getting messed with by the cops... and the "legalities" of going turbo in cali..

As far as my goals, I am just building my daily driver. I want to be fast, like everybody else and I know the capabilities of boost. Most likely I am going to be drag racing.

If you're at all concerned with the legalities, then do a legal B18 swap and nitrous for the strip.

Otherwise, any turbo you use with a swap will be ILLEGAL. Whether or not the cops harass you depends on how loud the car is and how you drive.

Yea, boost away.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - soon to be boosted, fast daily driver screamin' down the 1320 in my hatch.....As far as cops, they will mess with you N/A or turbo. Bottom line is you are driving a lowered Honda in Cali. My best advice: just don't be a hot ***.

Just go for it and if your really worried about getting harassed then go with a greddy kit. Thats what I did because I was so worried about being hassled.......but ive been pulled over once for speeding and the cop didn't ask a single question about my car and from where they were standing(speed trap) I was tearing down the road with my FMIC bling blingin away..........if I could do It again I would have said screw CARB and pieced together a kit.

moral of the story..........GO TURBO

Thanks guys for the advice. I guess I will stick with my plan, I dont drive all crazy on the streets or try and draw attention towards myself.

So what do you cali guys/girls do about passing smog?
