Default Boost leak out of BOV

Well, I checked EVERYTHING....

I went to a shop and they said that I need to hook up a vacuum line to the spout on the top of the BOV... Its a Max Rev BOV. I have the Wastegate hooked up to the FPR, can I hook up the BOV to the FPR too? Is this the reason why I am getting about 1/2 of the boost?

use other spots to hook it up to, like the intake manifold, and brake booster line

if you are leaking boost, check your intercooler piping. if you didnt have your BOV hooked up to vacuum/pressure source then it wasnt opening at all

well here is the deal.... I took it to a shop, and I found out that the place that welded my BOV heated it up too hot and the copper siezed so the piece couldnt move. So I was running for a couple of weeks w/o BOV. Will this hurt my turbo to where I need to get a new one or rebuild my old one? From what I could tell, there was no shaftplay.

well, no BOV will cause compressor surge which can lead to shaft play. if it wasnt very long without one you will probably be alright. just be sure to check both sides of the turbo for shaft play.

well the shop i took it too said the following...... I need ur opinion on this

well since there was no BOV they said hte air went back through the Compressor..... They showed me hte intake pipe and there was some oil in it. They told me that I MAY have blown the bearing pack, and would need to rebuild which he said would cost about 500-600 on a T3/T4 OE........

is what he said true? Could no BOV cause that much damage in less than a month?
I mean.... most stock turbos dont have BOV and I was never boosting more than 3 psi at the time. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Yes running and boosting w/o a BOV can and will damage the compressor wheel... It all depends on how much boost, how often, and how long bfore it will damage it beyond repair... I'd hook up the BOV, drive it, and see how it feels...

500-600 for a rebuild? you can get a brand new turbo for that much.

are u sure about that?

the guy just called me and said that because the BOV was not working all the air going the other way caused a lot of shaftplay. They said they had like a shaft play tool or something..... Is he right? I am really worried, that turbo costed so damn much......

There are a couple people here with MaxRev blowoff valves. They have not had a problem with them but they are all running 8lbs-11lbs of boost. $500.00 for a rebuild? What shop is this again? I still don't think your turbo needs a rebuild due to the fact you were not running that much boost. If you DO NEED a rebuild talk to Cheap Turbos and Precision. Precision will warranty their work for 12 months or 12,000 miles. $500.00 is a new T3/T04 turbo.

i know, i think the poeple were BS'ing me......

the even told me to get a bigger turbo !?!?! I was the turbo is already HUGE... t3/t4 oe is NOT a small turbo....

he told me I should sell the old turbo and get a bigger one.

1 month at 3psi w/o BOV I dont think would require a rebuild... But I could be wrong... any other comments? THANKS!!

I would say just drive it a bit and see if it feels like it should. Make sure your hitting the proper set boost level, make sure your not puffing out tons of smoke anywhere (or oil) and you should be good.

I think your "SHOP" just wants the cash for doing a turbo rebuild for you. You can have it done much cheaper , $500 is a brand new turbo, not rebuild.

We nothing about your power goals but I know people making 419whp and 335whp here with a T3/T04E. They probably wanted you to buy the turbo from them? Keep us updated.
