Default Boost/intercooler?

Im planing of boosting my 97 GSR. although I don't care about making an insane amount of power, im looking to achieve 200-250whp. I don't have a specific turbo in mind yet as im still doing my homework on it. Basically im looking to know how much boost(roughly**) is neeaded to achieve such goals? And question #2 is about intercooling. Is an intercooler necessary at anything under 6psi?

**I don't plan on boosting too high, even if it means I won't be achieving my goal, as I plan on keeping the internals stock(temporarily). Given a stock engine what psi levels would be safe, and what kind of whp #'s would one be looking at?

thanks in advance

If your only looking for that kind of power get a Greddy Kit and some engine management and be done. I would always recommend an intercooler. With turbo and no intercooler intake temps can get very high.

Yes, get an intercooler...no matter what PSI you're boosing at...you'll want an intercooler to keep your intake temps low.
Get one now while you're still working with it....cause you'll need one later when you become boost friendly.
