A leak would cause you to have a false vac reading but my d16y8 pulled a solid 20-22 hg and it still pulled that with a cracked ring land in the end too. It just blew out a nice cloud when i hit boost

I was running 7psi with a greddy kit but i would spike anywhere from 9-10 psi trying to hold 7 psi to red line with my profec A. For fuel I just had a inline pump and a fmu. It took me about 30,000 miles to kill the sohc and about 5-6 150+ mph top speed runs.

I had the same problem with my boost gauge when i was running the greddy kit. I found out the problem was in the gauge itself. Where the hose was connecting to the back of the gauge i used some of that plumbers take to seal the connection. I after i did it fixed everything and i consistently read -20 on the gauge.

Remember that if you over tightin your fitings that your line is in it will kink the line and also cause it to leak.

well i'll let you know that your not alone + i'm running the greddy turbo 15g... Mine read 16 vac on idle, sometimes it would go down to 20. And the boost would only read 5psi when i floor it and 9psi in 4th gear. Also it can read about 9psi when its 3/4 throttle. not too sure if its a vac leak yet, really had no time to figure it out.

Yes exactly..I had crushed at least two of those little ***** inbetween the boost gauge connection before I finally taped that damn thing up and fixed the problem.

Yeah -20hg should be showing boost or n/a ....You might have a leaky gauge like we do. Tephlon tape it up and go from there. Could have a small crack in one of your hoses .

I think you are fine. I believe 15-21 is normal. For each 1000 feet you go up in elvation your vaccum increase by 1 hg. best way to test vaccum leak is take a propane tank with a hose hooked to it. Go around the engine where you think the leak is, with the propane and if there is a leak then the enigne rpm will change.
