Boost Fluctutates
Hello,
My boost Fluctutates, i do not get consistant 14PSI From Full boost [4500-8200rpm].
It will go from like 12-13.9 and not hold at 14PSI.
I do not have a boost controller, only a 14psi spring in my Tial 38mm Wastegate.
My Setup is a B16a Built motor, Srp 8.x:1 Cr.
Anyone has any info that could help me?

Re: Boost Fluctutates
wheres your source for the wg?
i would double check what spring you have. a lot of times itll creep a little so youll run a little more boost than the spring. you usually cant run anything below the wg spring rating.

Re: Boost Fluctutates
Ive had the same thing happen to me with a Tial BOV. Take it apart and rebuild it. Clean it out and lubricate it. Then test it out, see if it fixes your problem.

Re: Boost Fluctutates
IMO the bov should have its own dedicated vacuum course off the manifod for proper operation. Ive teed off other things for a line to my bov and it always gave me weird issues.
That also wasnt just on one specific bov, i always had issues witou a dedicated line to the bov om a greddy type rs, Turbosmart megasonic, tial and now my turbosmart racegate bov. and when put on a single dedicated line they all work flawlessly

Re: Boost Fluctutates
what manifold do you have? there should be more than one port.
buy a vac box and tee it off the big brake booster line that way you have multiple ports you can use and its off a big line so you shouldnt have any problems. thats what i did for one of my cars. no problems after 3 years.

Re: Boost Fluctutates
toward the outlet of the turbo, drill a hole and tap it and put a fitting on there. thats is the best place to get a boost feed for the wastegate. typically though if you have a good intercooler you will see a 1.5-2 psi loss. so if your running a 12 psi spring you would see 10-11 psi of boost because the gate still opens up at 12 psi but the intercooler restricts somewhat
Im running a blox intake manifold same as skunk2 and i use the front nipple for my bov, the rear nipple goes to the brake boost and a vacuum manifold for boost gauge and little things. the WG is hooked to the outlet of the turbo as i just described as well as my boost controller. works flawlessly

Re: Boost Fluctutates
I *think* i found the problem,
The Bolt that goes into the Barb Fitting was a Smaller BOLT.
I thus changed it to an original Bolt, Hopefully this was the problem.
Is that a possibility?
I will have to datalog to see.

Re: Boost Fluctutates
if you are running the boost feed form the turbo to the wastegate then yes you will need an 11 psi spring to get roughly 9 psi at the intake manifold. or just get a good mbc like a turbosmart and a few clicks will accomplish the same thing
