Re: Boost creep issue
yeah, get a 44m wastegate. Or the tune is a little off, I have read somewhere where a kids timing was a little off I do not really know how but thats what he said.

Re: Boost creep issue
could i just order this...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tial-...item5636737140
and then buy a 44mm wastegate so i dont have to get a new manifold?

Re: Boost creep issue
Yes but it defeats the purpose of having a 44 in the first place.. A bigger opening allowing more air to bleed off. I suppose you could open up the hole a bit to match the gate..

Re: Boost creep issue
my lines are kink free...i really dont understand how a boost controller will fix the problem...i have a hallman boost controller lay around...and i dont really have ebay parts everything is name brand on my car...i mean my manifold is a obx manifold but it does work.it made 440whp and 300tq on 15psi.
he is a bad picture of the set when i first put the motor in

Re: Boost creep issue
I have almost an identical set up ( just not an OBX manifold ) but ramhorn style. My tial 38mm wastegate has a 12LB spring but on the dyno it kept wantin to go to 18 so I just set boost cut out at 17lbs and run 16PSI now. Tuner said get a bigger wastegate and itll fix the problem but it wasnt a must cuz the tune was still perfect at 16PSI and my HP numbers were fine for the motor.

Re: Boost creep issue
The angle of the wastegate is not great and that's a very large turbo to be regulating with a 38mm. If I were in your shoes I would do the following:
1. Take the manifold to a machine shop to have the wastegate runner adjusted angling it towards the ground so the path is in line with the natural flow of the exhaust gases.
2. Get a larger gate anyway. With that turbo you want to be as precise as possible since it seems likely you will be running low boost most of the time.

Re: Boost creep issue
do not get the adapter to go from a 2 bolt 38mm flange to a 44mm vband for the 44mm tial wastegate... i have done it and it didnt not work...
you need to cut the 38mm flange off and replace with a 44mm vband flange to run the bigger wastegate... the inlet on the wastegate outlet has some horrible welds that should be redone and while your at you should someone ELSE do the welding...
