Hey i'm new to the FI Scene and i've been searching around but couldnt really find anything on this particlar question. will a boost controller allow you to adjust higher then what your spring is in your wastegate so if i had 6 psi spring can i use a boost controller to set it to 8?

Yes that is correct. There are 2 main different types of boost controllers: Manual (MBC) and electric (EBC). Then there are single to multiple stages after that. You can look at companies like Turbo XS and Turbosmart for manual and electronic. HKS, Greddy (and a few other companies) make cabin mounted electronic controllers. They range in price from $69.00 to $1500 (World boost controller).
