Default blox 4" velocity stack gains

this particular vehicle is a customers car we tuned last weekend

vehicle setup is as follows
84mm LS/VTEC with 8:1 compression ratio
91 pump octane fuel
SPoolinPerformance 3" downpipe
SPoolin ramhorn
tial 38mm gate
Precision T61 T4 turbo
hallman pro MBC
880cc injectors
Single walboro ( upgrading fuel later)
OEM ITR cams
Redzone Ported head
Supertech valvetrain
victor X turbo manifold
ACT 6 puck extreme clutch
GSR tranny with LSD
tuned on CROME by Redzone Performance

we made multiple runs with the stack on and decided to take the stack off to see if there were any losses. two runs we did without the stack and each exhibited a loss

interesting if you ask me

that is some serious boost creep!

we have seen some good gains with velocity stacks on all motor cars. havnt really played with it much on a turbo car. it seems most of the turbo cars we do cant get traction on the dyno as it is lol

Very nice gains, I saw a few whp gain on my built NA gsr, never seen it tested back to back on a turblow car, I also wasn't aware they made a 4" Vstack.

I'll have to get a vstack for my upcoming turbo build and see how it does on the dyno, i'll be sure to do a back to back and post up the info whenever it happens.

Was this bolted directly to the turbo or is there an intake pipe on it?Also was this with an open downpipe or with an exhaust?I've been thinking of getting one.

indeed .. about 9 psi before vtec. 15 after. holds 17 and slowly creeps up to 23 psi

back to back runs. wierdly enough the graphs match up just fine everytime i guess you can say its a " controlled" creep hahaha if theres even such a thing

no arm . no filter. stack directly on the turbo

nothing was on the turbo before the stack

we actually tuned with the stack on and yanked it off to see if there were any differences

we should've probably done it the other way but the purpose of tuning the car wasn't for the sole purpose of seeing the stack work. it was just a last minute thing we did

Yup, I have done tests with a velocity stack, but it was on a Supra though and not a Honda...

I had done runs with a mesh, K&N filter, then an HKS foam filter, a 4" stack, and then a 12" stack (all stacks had a mesh on it)... Yes, a 12" stack...ROFL The bigger the stack was, the more power it gained! Overall, with a 700WHP power level, the 12" stack gained a total of 20-25 WHP versus any filter or mesh.

Here's a pic of the 12" stack on my Supra:

I am also running a 6" stack on my Integra after knowing the results from the Supra:

Yikes!
I guess I've been lucky. I'm running 2.5inch piping from my turbo to behind my headlight where there is a 2.5inch v-stack that I had laying around mounted. I've never had a issue.
Car is daily driven aswell.

I'm upgrading to a 35r from the 50trim so I think I may need a blox v-stack.

Thanks for posting this.

agreed, i spoke to my friend who works at Garrett and he said something as small as 1 grain of sand could potentially ruin a turbo, that day i decided i was willing to sacrifice 30whp+ and run a filter, race cars are a different story, im sure everybody knows that 1 guy who has had no filter or screen for 5+ years and his turbo is fine but i don't wanna take the chance.

either way thank you project dc2 for sharing the info, i will certianly pass it on to my friend who is building a race only car

im sure you could purchase a filter to be ran on the velocity stack and still have great gains

you just need a K&N with a 6 inch inlet

the blox ones have filters too but i didnt try to fit one in because it looked tight

Do you have a link to where i could buy one of these?? I haven't had my car tuned yet and would love to use one when i get it done. I could even offer up some comparative dyno tuning to show the gains...

Is there any speculation as to exactly what causes this bell make more power up top? Does it allow the air to enter the compressor with less turbulence? I have a 4" pipe 90'd out of my turbo and it goes out into my front bumper, wouldnt mind running it out my high beam and putting one of these in its place though.
