Re: (WHTZ)
Whats sad is the intake just moves the [stock block] limited power band around, same with the big turbo, same for the cam gears.
Ever wonder why you see the factory turbo guys winding the **** out of their stock turbos, upgrading the turbo last? They have forged internals to prevent this. If you have frivilous items as I see above on an old, tired sohc, then you've put money in the wrong places.
Anyways, good luck on the rebuild. Just don't cut any corners. Sell the manifold, gear, and fuel rail if you have to. A half-assed setup with performance bolt-ons is still half-assed.

Come on now...you could tell thats a tuning problem from pictures!!! HA
No it couldnt have been a lack of oil which caused a spun bearing giving him that 'ticking' noise the day before...then he went out and beat on it anyways and threw the rod through the block...nah, couldnt have been that.
Nice job on the carnage, this is how you learn and make a better setup the next time around

well detonation is just a noise here and there (most of the time). a spun rod bearing is a constant noise that does not stop. who would keep driving the car for a day with a bad bad noise under the hood?? i didnt think anyone could be that dumb. so i thought it was probably detonation.

The ticking was most likely the start of rod problems. The rod finally just gave way. We can debate for days about how it happened but nobody can tell from pictures. Remember, it was a d series. Pick up another for a couple hundred bucks...possibly build it. Dont let any of the negative posts get to you. Im sure you learned somthing and your next setup will be better. Your out a few hundred bucks and some time.

Been there... done that (twice!) My particular problem happened to be an internal WG that worked most of the time, but not always Oh well, luckily you can get another D series for little to no money.

You are right man!
My block had 150k+ miles on it and was build with cheap turkish parts I know that from previous owner..
I don't know how much power I was making because I only street tuned it and then I beated it for 3 weeks..
The day before boom I heard that ticking noise and YES it was spun bearing..
