Default Blow engine, cracked sleeve!

Oh well. We knew it was just a matter of time before the sleeve's would crack. I got about 4500km's on the engine boostin daily at 17psi on a fully built engine. I had a few good runs at the track but im now looking forward to AEBS sleeves!

Oh ya I was 84mm and now Im forsure going back to 81mm. Good thing I kept my old je turbo pistons!

Just sucks that I need all new bearings, new cometic gasket, engine in and out and a few other little things.

Oh the bright side. I was getting car painted so at least now the engine will be out!

Rods have nothing to do with this but.

Fully balanced and blueprinted bottom end using eagle rods!

Leitner and bush sleeves. Its a company here In Canada, Toronto, Ontario that does them. They are also used in Cnadas fastest import. Its a eg civic that just ran 8.67@167mph.

This is the six car with there sleevs from around here alone that have all cracked in THE EXACT SAME SPOT. All cylinder 3. All same summer. BAD BATCH MAYBE?

They are great guys though and will fix my block and it will be re sleeved using aebs. ALthoguh they will have to get me a new head as the other is opened up to the 84mm bore.

You should let them know, that there product they gave you is crap. And you demand your money back or a new set of sleeves so you can sale the set of sleeves and get your money back.

If its gonna fail its gonna be cyclinder 3, it runs the hottest. Think of why your cyclinder is cracking , I wouldnt be too quick to blame the sleeve. I would start by looking at tunning, also 17psi is a bot much for the street dont you think?

Well every sleeve company has it issues but alot of blocks from them have all cracked in the exact same spot and the exact same crack and so on. 17 psi is not alot to run daily at all. Not when fully built and running a low compression pistion. I mean I ran 15psi daily on the stock sleeves with 9-1 je pistons and never once had a issue..

I know cylinder 3 runs hottest and ive heard the story its the tuners fault, no its the sleeve's fault a thousand times. I wasnt runing aggressive settings at all. Very conservative timing and running a very consistant a/f flow accorss the board.

Oh well . Im not at all balmming anyone here. We knew it was gonna happen and it did happen. Not even on the dyno like i though, just driving home and I hit it as I normally would.

THERE IS ZERO DOUBT that sleeves SHOULDNT CRACK AT 17psi with proper tuning and conservative settings. My tuner was aware of these cracked sleeves from the shop and kept setting conservative for that reason. The sleevs were put in my car to easily be able to run 26psi at the track and 16 to 18 daily with ease.

AEBS. Comming soon.

Thanks to a great shop that works on my car, and thanks to a great shop that will be taking care of me when my engine is boom boom. So thanks To TAPP AUTO and to Leitner Performance!
