I am getting ready to build a motor for turbo and i want to know if a block guard is good or bad i have heard a little of both. I got this info from the old one:

The concept is really a good one. My personal experience with them is that the top of the cylinder bore runs extremely hot due to the lack of coolant.

What is everybodys opinions about this?
