Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
Arias all the way. But if you want to do a cheap build id say go with vitara with the fjt rod. But if your sleeving your block and going with 500 hp+ id say go with the arias + bisimoto spec rod.

Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
Yes, according to the Haynes man. it tells you to prime the brand new motor until the oil pump kicks off, machine shop said you have to watch oil pressure gauge raise till normal operating pressure. machine shop only told me this after i spun the bearings.... i know its crappy

Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
Damn dude that sucks.
I say go with the Arias, thats what im gonna order.
I have a ? for anybody that wants to answer.
What does it mean when someone says that there car was tuned to 3xx at 21 degrees.
Does that mean 21 degrees all the way across the board?
Which means its retard from the 32 degrees WOT from factory right?
I am having a problem with my tune.
I have tore up 2 different sets of rod bearings.
Smashed one set the other set just started to knock.
If the timing on my graph is too close to 32 thats bad right.
Im on 25 lbs.
Thanks
Sorry for the thread jack.

Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
Both products are good and we love Bisimoto poducts as well (were a Bisi dealer) but to our defense here is my .02 cents
I would go with Vitara setup if you:
1- Want reliable setup w/o hurting your pocket.
2- If you arent shooting for over 500whp or sleeving your block. For the price and the proven good result that vitara pistons and our FJ R spec rods offer its almost pointless to dpend so much money for anything with less than 500whp.

Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
I voted for the Arias combo. Im actually planning on picking the same combo up in a little while here once i get my money together but that is beside the point. I know alot of people have had good luck with the vitaras but I just dont feel comfortable using a factory style cast piston in my build I would rather spend the extra money in something I knew was made to handle a performance set-up and not have to pay to fix it down the road. Since this is your second time around with this build I would do it right.Just my 2 cents.

Re: Bisimoto or Vitara???
Maybe I missed it, but what block, and oil pump were you using last time when you spun your bearings? Also just because you decide to go with a diff. setup dosent mean you wont spin another. So did you build/assemble your last setup? Spun bearing can be totaly prevented. Pesonaly, I wouldnt go with that machinest. Its not the rods that caused the bearing to spin. Eather lack of oil, or wrong sized bearings. I would look more into that than anything elses. I tell you what, I checked my bearings, and then I rechecked my bearings, and then for ***** and giggles, I check them again to make sure I had the wright sized ones. Its all about prep work and keeping everything clean.
But at the end of the day, I still would rock the fj/vit combo for anything under 500hp.

Im using the D16z6 Engine and original oil pump. i never mentioned anything about the rods causing the spun bearing, i did mention that the machinist told me after the fact that i was suppose to crank the engine with no ignition until the oil pressure needle moved to normal range before starting the engine, but the Haynes man. says crank til the oil pump kicks off which is what i did...... either way the machinist i go to builds racing engines so i trust their work it could have easily been my fault for not building enough oil pressure before starting the motor.
Thanks for the info tho!!!
