Big Boosting B16 guys
I am curious to know if I should be running a sleeved block making upwards of 400whp on a daily driver..
I want to make no less than 350whp DAILY., stock sleeves would be better for budget..If sleeves would be a HUGE difference, I would do a LS/VTEC Sleeved laskey or evans block, on a GT3076R.
I have a fully build Skunk2 Head...would this be a waste to run a GT3076R, fully built skunk2 head w/ a built non sleeved B16 to make 400whp? Would you say its a better idea to do a sleeved block, same setup and shoot for over 400? I have experience with D-Series but its time to upgrade..

I personally beat the snott out of my b16 on 23psi stock sleeves and no issues alot has to do with the tuner also. if you have a built head that flows good you can reach that power no problem at lower boost levels. But sleeving a block is by all mans better then stock,. but you are able to get away with stock sleeves.. once again its in the tune.. an agressive tune can shorten the life of your motor
My daily Stock sleeve B16 makes around 400WHP on 18-20 psi. Been running for 2 years strong. B16's have a Short stroke, so less stress on the Sleeves. They have been proven time and time again to handle a lot of power, and boost. the stock piston ring lands will break before sleeves, upgrade pistons and rods if on a budget and dont want to sleeve. Then go tune with a reputable tuner.
stock sleeves are one of them thing were it may hold fine on some and not on other if you have the money to get aftermarket sleeves i would that way you dont have to worry about it
I always see people say Good Tune. What do you mean when you say "get a GOOD TUNE" or " you will need a heck of a tune"? I thought a tune is a tune.
Have you seen the DIY sleeves here? I just cant find the thread but its like under $100 and the dude is happy with it.

stock sleeves would be the weakest link, so it leaves less room for error in the tuning. a bad tank of gas or something else could put the sleeves at risk. the tune you would require might run a little less total timing than on a sleeved motor just to take less room for error into account.
honestly if i was going serious on this, i wouldnt run another stock sleeved block after i cracked a sleeve in like '06 i think. you can get a golden eagle sleeved block for less than 1000 bucks.

Hi guys. hope you don't mind me hijacking the thread but i just wanted to know: i have a built b16a2. i think the head is stock but i might have uprated valvetrain. will i make 400bhp with a garrett t3/t4 50 trim with a log manifold and 3" d/p and system? what kind of boost will i have to run?
